Who are we?
We are Southeast Michigan's oldest and
largest commercial vineyard. We have 12
varieties of fine wine grapes growing on a
25 acre site featuring beautiful
south-facing hillsides with ideal soil
conditions. Located in Jackson County, our
vineyard is on the same latitude as the
border of Southern France and Northern Spain
- some of the finest wine regions in the
world. We are proud to be able to offer
exceptional hand-crafted, estate
grown wines for your
enjoyment.
What does estate
grown mean?
Estate grown means
that our wines are made from the grapes
grown in our own vineyard. We grow only
vinifera - or classic European wine grape
varieties. Our grapes are hand-picked at the
peak of ripeness.
Our story:
In 1997 we sold our home in suburban
Ferndale, MI and put everything we had into
the purchase of our property and the
development of the vineyard, all in the
pursuit of the American dream. The property
was all wooded, so we immediately began
clearing trees and planting vines. We
cleared and planted roughly seven acres per
year in 1997, 1998 and 1999 - and have
filled in other areas of the property for 24
acres of grapes. We opened our wine tasting
room on March 1, 2002.
Kip, a wood worker for 25 years, closed his
woodshop to follow his passion and become a
first generation farmer and winemaker. His
refined palate and quest for excellence have
served him well in the production of our
wines. Dennise, a former flight attendant,
oversees the wine tasting room and is the
driving force behind the distribution of our
wines to many fine retail stores throughout
the metro Detroit, Ann Arbor and Lansing
areas. We hope you enjoy our wines as much
as we enjoy presenting them to you.
Cheers!
